And Then There Was Running

I was a smoker for a long, long, long time. During this time I thought that running was a horrible, painful experience that left you sore and feeling like you caught a cold for days afterward. What I didn't realize was that it was the smoking and lack of stretching and hydration that was causing it to be such a negative experience. If you had told me that one day I would be excited to go out and run I would have told you that you were crazy. You would have been right though. 8 months ago I quit smoking. One month later I went for my very first run as a non-smoker. I was really just toying with the idea and didn't really think that I would enjoy it. I was wrong, I enjoyed it much more than I could have imagined. I ran only one mile that day but it was my most important mile. It was the mile that started a whole new addiction for me. I felt wonderful afterward and couldn't wait to go out and run again. I was reminded what running had felt like when I was a child, how simple and satisfying it was just to run. That mile feels like a long time ago now and there have been many, many more since then but I still think that that first mile was the most important mile I have ever or will ever run.

Same place, same time

I was out running errands today and noticed a new red challenger leaving a parking lot at about the same time as I was. While there is nothing out of the ordinary about this event it is how my afternoon progressed that was interesting. I went to 3 different stores after that (home depot, fred meyers, and taco bell) and saw that same car at each of these places. On my way home, about 5 miles out of town, I saw it again driving down the freeway the same direction as I was. I noticed this car because it was out of the ordinary but I wonder how many times this happens to people. How many times we run in the same circles as others without even realizing it. How funny it would be to follow the driver of the red challenger and tell them the places they had been in the last few hours. I'm pretty sure that they would find it much creepier than it actually was but I think it would be funny.

Hello! *waves*

Instead of being productive and getting things finished today I got caught up searching random things on the internet. It's happened to the best of us, we think that we will only be on the computer briefly and a few hours later we realize a "few minutes" was a bit longer than it was supposed to be. Interestingly that has lead my day to this blog...My very first real blog. So while I have nothing important or interesting to say at this moment I would like to introduce myself. My name is Sachi, I am a mom, friend, substitute teacher (with a little too much free time) and girlfriend as well as many, many more nouns and adjectives. So to anyone who may come across this brand new blog of mine, "Hello! please come in, have a seat and make yourself comfortable". There are many more things to write about. So until then, it was nice meeting you.
