On February 26, 2011 I ran the Smelt Run in La Conner, Washington. This was the first race that I have done two years in a row. I feel like that somehow confirms that I am officially a runner. The weather the week of the race was HORRIBLE! The schools had to shut down due to snow and hazardous road conditions. It was supposed to get better by race day but of course this was not the case. On the morning of the race it was 27 degrees and snowing...Not very comfortable! It was very pretty though.
When we got to the race it was pretty uncomfortable but I was determined to run no matter what. There was a lot of snow on the ground but the town had done a pretty good job of making sure the road was safe for us to run on. A quick picture with Bryce and I was ready to join the freezing runners.
Cold and uncomfortable I was ready to get going.
Getting to the finish line couldn't happen fast enough!
At the end of the race my face was completely frozen! It was very uncomfortable and difficult to talk...But I was done!
